Mount Everest was first summited by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on May 29, 1953. The Everest Base Camp trek became popular in the 1960s following the historic climb. The Khumbu region is home to the Sherpa people, renowned for their mountaineering expertise. Over 50,000 trekkers visit EBC annually.
Classic EBC Trek (12-14 days): Lukla to Base Camp via Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Gorak Shep. Gokyo Lakes Route (14-16 days): Via stunning turquoise lakes and Gokyo Ri viewpoint. Three Passes Trek (18-21 days): Challenging route crossing Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La passes. Jiri to EBC (20+ days): Traditional approach following Hillary's 1953 route.
Weather: During the trekking season, temperatures are generally warm in the valleys but cool off considerably at higher elevations. The spring and autumn months are the country’s driest, making them the most popular months for the trek. May is the ideal month to go for participants interested in meeting mountaineers heading to Everest’s summit., Best Time to Visit: , Average Expedition Length 2 weeks
