DAY 1: Individual arrival in Kathmandu/Nepal or Chengdu/China.
DAY 2: Last preparations and free time.
DAY 3: Flight to Lhasa, capital of Tibet – probably one of the most stunning mountain flights in the world.
DAY 4: In the morning, there’s time for sightseeing: the Potala Palace, the former residence of the Dalai Lama and the Jokhan Monastery which demonstrate the rich culture of this beautiful country. Later we start our journey to Shigatse (3,800m) where we will spend the night at a decent but clean hotel.
DAY 5:Transfer to Everest base camp (driver’s camp) at 5,200m. The journey leads over the Tibetan Plateau to Rongbuk Monastery where we have lunch and some time to explore. Then we move on to driver’s camp where we start preparations for the ascent.

NORTH SIDE: Day 1-5: Kathmandu and journey to Everest Basecamp

DAY 6-7: Ascent to advanced base camp (ABC) at 6,400m via middle camp at 5,800m. Get-together with the ABC team and set up our tents.

DAY 8-17: We will do one rotation to North Col (7000m) and then head back to basecamp for recovery. Our Sherpa-team has already installed three high camps at 7,000m (North Col), 7,800m and 8,300m. Then we wait for a weather window for our first summit attempt.

 After the steep glacier climb to the North Col we stay at Camp 1, follow the less demanding North Ridge which leads us to the Northeast ridge, where we stay at Camp2 at about 7,800m, and then Camp3 at 8,300m. From here we cross below the Northeast Ridge to the Northwest Face and then back to the ridge with the secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd steps (all secured by rope) and finally we tackle the summit face.

 From ABC onwards, oxygen is available. At the camps we will also sleep with oxygen. There is plenty of time for a few days of rest and a second attempt at the summit.

Day 6-17: Acclimatisation and summit attempt

DAY 18: After our (hopefully) successful ascent, we now have to say goodbye to our Nepalese Team. We wander back to drivers’ camp and prepare for our departure.

DAY 19-20: Transfer back to Lhasa and Kathmandu/Chengdu with probably overnight stay half way.

DAY 21: Journey home.

Day 18 - 21: return journey and flight home

DAY 1: Arrival and get-together at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Meet your guide in your hotel. A great adventure awaits us, and our journey is soon to begin. You can feel the anticipation, excitement and joy.

DAY 2: Helicopter flight to Syangboche above Namche and overnight stay in nearby Khumjung at app. 3750m. During the flight we are surrounded by the impressive rocky mountains of the Himalaya.

DAY 3-8: Acclimatization at Island Peak and / or Lobuche or Mera Peak. Acclimatization peak to be selected according to the local circumstances. Trekking to and ascent of the chosen mountain.

SOUTH SIDE: Day 1-8: Kathmandu and journey to Everest Basecamp

DAY 9: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5330m), from where we will prepare and plan the ascent of Mount Everest.

DAY 10-21: Within these days we will reach the summit of Mount Everest. The advantage is that we have only have to climb through the Khumbu Icefall once during the ascent and descent, as we already have acclimatized to a six-thousand metre peak and therefore do not need any further acclimatization rotations. We wait for the right weather window for our first summit attempt. We skip Camp 1 , so we need 4 days for the ascent and two days for the descent. From Camp 2 (6400m) we have Oxygen at our disposal. In Camp 3 (7160m) and 4 (8000m) we can also sleep with oxygen.  There is enough time for rest days and a second summit attempt.

Arrive and be met at the airport by the CTSS team, who will take you to our 5-star hotel in Kathmandu. Today is a pure arrival day, so you can fly in at any time and then rest, relax, and recover from the jetlag. Tomorrow is our first day of formal activities.

March 30 - Day 1 - Arrive

We meet for breakfast before doing our expedition briefing and gear checks. Spend the afternoon exploring Kathmandu, picking up any last-minute items, and packing and preparing to fly into the Khumbu Valley

March 31 - Day 2 - Team Expedition Briefing & Gear Checks

We fly into the Khumbu Valley, into the famous Lukla airstrip to begin our trek. Today, we trek leisurely down to Phakding. Overnight in teahouse

April 1 - Day 3 - Fly to the Khumbu

On our first full day on the Everest Base Camp trail, we tackle Namche Hill up to the Sherpa Capital of Namche Bazaar. Overnight in teahouse

April 2 - Day 4 - Trek to Namche Bazaar

We explore Namche and take a short acclimatization hike to allow our bodies to adjust to the increasingly rarefied air. Overnight in teahouse

April 3 - Day 5 - Rest/Acclimatize Namche

Today, we move up to Tengboche, the site of the famous Tengboche Monastery. Overnight in teahouse

April 4 - Day 6 - Trek to Tengboche

Today, we rest and acclimatize. We visit Tengboche Monastery for a traditional Buddhist blessing for safe passage to the summit of Everest. Overnight in teahouse

April 5 - Day 7 - Rest/Acclimatize Tengboche

We rise above the vegetation level as we climb higher into the Himalayas. Today, we trek to the outpost of Pheriche. Overnight in teahouse

April 6 - Day 8 - Trek to Pheriche

We take an acclimatization hike high above the village, boasting spectacular views of the Ama Dablam and the Himalayas. In the afternoon, we visit the medical outpost of the HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association) for an educational and informative talk on acclimatization and altitude illness. Overnight in teahouse

April 7 - Day 9 - Rest/Acclimatize in Pheriche

We deviate off the beaten path to the base of Lobuche East Peak, our first objective of the expedition. Lobuche will serve as one of our acclimatization rotations as well as afford us the opportunity to climb another Himalayan gem. Overnight in a tented camp.

April 8 - Day 10 - Trek to Lobuche Base Camp

This morning, we take an acclimatization hike up to Lobuche High Camp, tagging camp, before descending back to Lobuche Base Camp. This afternoon, we refresh our climbing skills and shake out any cobwebs. Overnight in a tented camp.

April 9 - Day 11 - Acclimatization & Skills Lobuche

We move up to Lobuche High Camp, enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and settling in for our summit climb in the days ahead. Overnight tented camp.

April 10 - Day 12 - Move to Lobuche High Camp

Today we practice our climbing skills above High Camp as a refresher and acclimatization exercise. We spend the afternoon packing before getting an early dinner and early to bed ahead of our alpine start to the summit tomorrow. Overnight tented camp.

April 11 - Day 13 - Acclimatize & Skills Lobuche High Camp

We rise in the very early hours for our alpine start, climbing through the night into the dawn to stand on top of Lobuche at or just after sunrise. From the top, we enjoy spectacular views over Everest and Lhotse and picture ourselves on the summit of Everest in the weeks to come. After photos, we drop back down to High Camp, pack up, and continue our descent to Lobuche Base Camp. Overnight tented camp.

April 12 - Day 14 - Summit Lobuche and Descend to Lobuche Base Camp

Waving farewell to Lobuche, we enjoy the full-day trek into Everest Base Camp today. Arriving at the luxury CTSS camp that will be our home away from home is an exciting event. Explore the famed Big House (huge geodesic dome complete with cafe, ping pong table, lounges, etc.) and settle into your tent.

April 13 - Day 15 - Trek to Everest Base Camp

We settle into our Everest Base Camp home and start our training in earnest. During our training sessions, we will practice ladder crossings in our crampons, fixed line climbing, rappelling, efficiency techniques, taking care of ourselves up high, oxygen use and troubleshooting, etc.

April 14th/15th/16th - Day 16/17/18 - Rest & Training at EBC

We pack, prepare and brief with our guides about our first rotation and our first climb through the Khumbu Icefall. We get an early night ahead of our alpine start tomorrow

April 17 - Day 19 -  Pack & Prepare for 1st Rotation

We climb through the icefall to Camp 1. It's a monumental, humbling experience moving through the icefall for the first time. Overnight Camp 1

April 18 - Day 20 - Climb to Camp 1

We take an acclimatization climb up to Camp 2 for lunch, moving through the Western CWM before returning to Camp 1 for our second night up high. Overnight Camp 1

April 19 - Day 21 - Climb to tag Camp 2, return to Camp 1

We descend back through the icefall to Base Camp, where we will rest and allow our bodies to reset and catch up to our new acclimatization high point.

April 20 - Day 22 - Complete 1st Rotation - Return to Base Camp

We spend the next few days resting at EBC, recovering our strength, training, and preparing for our second rotation.

April 21/22/23 - Day 23/24/25 Rest & Recover. Prepare for Rotation 2

Another alpine start, and we climb more efficiently and quicker through the icefall our second time. We climb to Camp 1 and overnight there.

April 24 - Day 26 - Begin 2nd Rotation

Today, we climb and move to Camp 2. Well-established Camp 2 becomes our staging ground for the upper reaches of the mountain. Overnight Camp 2

April 25 - Day 27 - Move to Camp 2

Today, we acclimatize by climbing above Camp 2 up to the bottom of the Lhotse Face before returning to Camp 2 for another night.

April 26 -Day 28 -  Tag the Base of the Lhotse Face

We climb the Lhotse Face for the first time, up to Camp 3 for lunch. The views are insane, and the scale of the mountain is so moving. We retreat back to Camp 2 for our last night on this rotation.

April 27 - Day 29 - Climb the Lhotse Face to Tag Camp 3

We climb from Camp 2 back to Base Camp to enjoy some well-earned rest! Good food and sleep are on the agenda as our bodies prepare for the summit push ahead. We don't rush our schedule but take our time to work around the weather, our bodies, and the best climbing conditions on the peak.

April 28 - Day 30 - Complete our 2nd Rotation, return to Base Camp

We allow our bodies to rest and recover. Acclimatization happens at rest, so this is a critical part of our climb

April 29/30 - Day 31/32. Rest & Recover

We do oxygen clinics, plan, pack, and plan again. We pour over the weather and plan our summit bid to maximize the best window.

May 1st/2nd - Day 33/34. Training & Preparation for our Summit Bid

Our summit bid could take place any time, but most typically, the best weather occurs during mid-May. 
On Day 1 of our Summit Bid - We climb to Camp 1
On Day 2 of our Summit Bid - We climb to Camp 2
On Day 3 of our Summit Bid - We climb to Camp 3 and sleep on oxygen
On Day 4 of our Summit Bid - We climb on oxygen to the South Col for a few hours of sleep before we climb to the Summit!
On Day 5 of our Summit Bid - We summit Mount Everest and descend back to the South Col
On Day 6 of our summit rotation - We descend to Camp 2
On Day 7 of our summit rotation - We return joyously to Base Camp.

May timeframe - Summit Everest!

Upon returning to Base Camp from the summit, we rest, recover, and begin to pack up and begin our homeward journey after the experience of a lifetime

Mid - End of May

We farewell our home for the last 6 weeks or so and either elect to helicopter all the way back to Kathmandu or begin our trek down the valley.

Wave Goodbye to Base Camp

We farewell each other and fly back home. We advise climbers to book a flexible return airfare for the 1st of June, knowing they can move it up if they summit earlier-to mid-May. However, the 1st of June gives us plenty of contingency to use in the schedule if we need it to work around the best weather/conditions to favor our safety and success.

1st June

Everest Summit Climb - Western Guided Team Climb

DAY 1: Arrival and get-together at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Meet and greet the other participants while enjoying a beer in the hotel gardens. A great adventure awaits us. You can feel the tension rising. Soon we will embark on our journey and already there’s a feeling of pride and grandeur. 

DAY 2: Free day in Kathmandu.
Those who do not yet know Kathmandu will love it. Relax in the comfortable hotel, shop and people watch in Thamel, enjoy the cultural program, or simply soak up the atmosphere. To each his own.

DAY 3: Flight to Lukla. One of the most stunning flights worldwide with a beautiful view on the Himalayas.

DAYS 4-14: Acclimatization at Lobuche. Trekking to and ascent with 2 nights in the summit area. The Sherpa team already starts preparing our high camp on Mount Everest.

DAY 15: Trekking to our already prepared base camp on Mount Everest at about 5300m.

Days 1-15

DAYS 16–24: Rest days followed by an acclimatization rotation to approximately 7000m with one night in Camp 3 at 7200m.

DAYS 25–27: Descent to Pangpoche at 3900m in one day, relax, enjoy the air and vegetation for one day, then return to base camp.

DAYS 28–43: Everest summit push. We are waiting for the right weather window for our first summit attempt. From Basecamp we climb to Camp 1 and further to Camp 2. At Camps 3 and 4, we can also sleep with oxygen. There is plenty of time for a few days of rest and a second try at the summit.

Days 16-43

DAYS 44–45: Trekking back to Namche.

DAY 46: Trekking to Lukla.

DAY 47: Flight Lukla – Kathmandu.

DAY 48: Kathmandu or extra day in case the flight wasn't possible due to bad weather.

DAY 49: Return travel.
