Short answer

Ranked first by those reviews is 360 Expeditions (4.9★ from 8 reviews, latest Apr 2021), then Alpine Ramble (5.0★ from 1 review, latest Mar 2026) and Exped Tribe (5.0★ from 1 review, latest Oct 2025). What to look for in a Mera Peak operator
Mera Peak is one of the peaks climbed on a Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) permit. Ask every operator on your shortlist the same questions, in writing.
An NMA-registered guide with you
The NMA's climbing rules say every party with a permit must be accompanied by a Sirdar or guide registered with the NMA, and that staff going above base camp must be insured (Nepal Mountaineering Association). Ask for your guide's name and NMA registration, and how many climbers each guide ropes up with on the glacier.
Our reviews Guides & leadership: mentioned in 10 of 12 reviews (10 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Safety: mentioned in 5 of 12 reviews (5 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★).
Enough days to acclimatise
The NMA lists Mera Peak at 6,470 m (NMA). Medical guidance above 3,000 m is to raise your sleeping altitude by no more than about 500 m a day, with an extra night for every 1,000 m gained (CDC Yellow Book). Ask for every night's altitude, including high camp.
Our reviews Acclimatisation: mentioned in 3 of 12 reviews (3 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Pace & itinerary: mentioned in 2 of 12 reviews (2 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Altitude sickness & health checks: mentioned in 1 of 12 reviews (1 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★).
Glacier skills and equipment
Ask whether there is a training day on crampons, harness and rope before the climb, what climbing equipment the operator provides or rents, and the turn-around time on summit day.
Our reviews Tents & equipment: mentioned in 2 of 12 reviews (2 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Safety: mentioned in 5 of 12 reviews (5 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Summit: mentioned in 3 of 12 reviews (3 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★).
Lukla flights and spare days
In the autumn and spring seasons many Lukla flights leave from Ramechhap (Manthali), a drive from Kathmandu (The Rising Nepal). Ask which airport you will use and how many spare days the plan has for weather.
Our reviews Flights & transfers: mentioned in 3 of 12 reviews (3 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Weather & forecasting: mentioned in 2 of 12 reviews (2 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★).
Rescue plan and permit
Ask how a sick climber would get down from high camp and whether your insurance covers helicopter rescue at that height. The NMA permit covers time above base camp, for one month (same source: NMA rules); ask whether it is in the price.
Our reviews Rescue & helicopter: mentioned in 2 of 12 reviews (2 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★); Value & price: mentioned in 2 of 12 reviews (2 in 4–5★ reviews, 0 below 4★).

Red flags
None of these proves an operator is unsafe. Each is a reason to stop and ask more questions.
- No named, NMA-registered guide. An operator that cannot tell you who will guide you on the glacier.
- Too few days for the height. A short itinerary that gains height quickly to reach high camp.
- No skills check before the glacier. No training or check on crampons and rope before summit day.
- Vague rescue arrangements. No plain answer on how an evacuation would be organised and paid for.
How we built this
- Verified reviews only. Every review is checked by our team before it is published. Critical reviews stay up.
- Tied to this place. Every figure on this page uses only the 12 reviews written for Mera Peak, not an operator's reviews elsewhere.
- Same order as the place page. The ranking is the one on the Mera Peak page.
- Prices. Shown only where a Pro operator set the price itself on ExpedReview; prices 1 to 3 years old carry a “may be out of date” note; older ones, and prices carried over from our old site that the operator never edited, are hidden.
- Themes. Counted by matching keywords in each review's title and text. A review counts once per theme.
- ERTI. The ERTI shown on operator profiles is a company-wide score out of 5, built from reviews we verify and many other factors. It is not a rating for Mera Peak and is not used in the order above.
- Independence. No operator paid to appear on this page. Operators cannot pay to rank higher or to have reviews removed.
- Outside facts. Anything not from our reviews is linked to its source: Nepal Mountaineering Association, Nepal Mountaineering Association, CDC Yellow Book, 23 Apr 2025, The Rising Nepal, 30 Sep 2025 (checked 11 Oct 2026).
