Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU(1,300M/4,264FT)Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport we offer you pick up facility from the airport and manage your stay at the most comfortable hotel in the city. You get to meet the team of trekkers and together we prepare for the trek. At the evening we offer you lavish welcome dinner with authentic Nepali Cuisine.
DAY 2: KATHMANDU VALLEY SIGHTSEEING AND TREK PREPARATION(1,300M/4,264FT)We offer you short trip to historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley: Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. You can also do some souvenir shopping during the sightseeing. After sightseeing we head back to hotel and get our clothing and trekking equipment ready and prepare for the trek.
DAY 3: FLY TO LUKLA AND TREK TO PHAKDING(2,652M/8,700FT):3-4HOURSThe flight from Kathmandu to Lukla lets you enjoy the beauty of green hills with a background of snowy mountain peaks. The trek begins from Lukla and we head towards Phakding passing through Cheplung village enjoying the sight of Mount Khumbila. We stay for the night at Phakding.
DAY 4: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR(3,440M/11,283FT):5-6HOURSWe walk the trail passing through pine forest and crossing Dudh Koshi River. We then reach entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Moving ahead, we reach Namche Bazaar, the famous Sherpa village. From Namche Bazaar we can have sight of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse. We spend the night at Namche Bazaar.
DAY 5: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY AT NAMCHE(3,440M/11,283FT)We stay for a day at Namche Bazaar to adjust with the altitude condition. Namche Bazaar is the main market area of the region with small local tea houses, restaurants, shops and trading areas around. We explore the areas observing the traditional and cultural Sherpa life. We can also choose to hike to Sagarmatha National Park from where the beautiful sight of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and others can be visible. Rare species of flora and fauna can be spotted along the way. We end the day thus and get a good night’s sleep in hotel at Namche Bazaar.
DAY 6: TREK TO TENGBOCHE(3,870/12,694FT):5HOURSThe trek passes through Dudh koshi river and along lush rhododendron forest. Heading ahead to Tengboche, the beautiful view of Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse and Mount Ama Dablam greet you along the way. Reaching Tengboche we get to visit the most famous and largest monastery in the region called Tengboche monastery. We conclude the day’s trek at Tengboche.
DAY 7: TREK TO DINGBOCHE(4,360/14,300FT):5-6HOURSWe start the trek walking through evergreen forests with pines and conifers. The area is also rich with colorful rhododendron bushes. We then take the trail to Pangboche, crossing Imja river. The trail takes us to famous Pangboche monastery. We again walk ahead and reach Imja valley and from there towards Dingboche from where we get to see field of various kind of crops like barley, buckwheat and potatoes, carefully protected from cold winds and animals. We spend the night at Dingboche.
DAY 8: TREK TO LOBUCHE(4,940M/16,207FT):4HOURSWe start the trek climbing through Duglha and Chupki Lhara. The area is decorated with prayers flags as memorials for departed souls. We move ahead towards Khumbu glacier where the great peaks Pumori and Maha Langur himal can be seen up close. We spend the night in Lobuche.
DAY 9: TREK TO EVEREST BASE CAMP(5364M/17,594FT) AND BACK TO GORAK SHEP(5170 M/16,961FT): 7-8HOURSThe trail to Everest Base Camp passes through Gorak Shep Lake. The walk ahead takes us to Indian army mountaineers’ memorial. Walking through rocky terrain in such high altitude can wear out the tired body. But upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, the spellbinding view of mountain peaks and colorful tents contrasted against the snowy beauty makes you forget the arduous journey. We will then get back to Gorak Shep for the night.
DAY 10: TREK TO KALA PATTHAR (5545M/18,192FT) AND BACK TO LOBUCHE(4940M/16,207FT): 6-7 HOURSWe start our hike early in the morning. After walking some hours we reach the top of Kala Patthar (meaning black rock in local language), which is the sunrise viewing point. From the top we get to see 360° view of mountains around with the closest view of Mount Everest. Down below we can see the deep and dangerous Khumbu glacier. Also, we can see gigantic view of Mount Pumori from the top of Kala Patthar. Mount Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserkhu and many other mountains can be viewed up close from the top. We then return back to Lobuche and spend the night there.
DAY 11: TREK TO HIGH CAMP(5,400M/17,712FT) AND PRE-CLIMB TRAINING: 3-4 HOURSToday we will be walking from Lobuche Base Camp to Lobuche high camp. It takes around 4 hours to reach the high camp. The trail is rocky and snowy. We need to be extra careful when walking through such risky trails. We then reach the high camp. We set up our camp and enjoy the views around. We walk around for some time to help in acclimatization. Then our trekking guides will orient and provide training on climbing. You will be informed about different types of climbing equipments and then instructed on ways of properly using the equipments and gears. Night at the camp.
DAY 12: LOBUCHE SUMMIT(6,119M/20,070 FT) AND BACK TO HIGH CAMP: 8-10 HOURSToday is the most awaited day of this trek. We start the trek early in the morning walking up towards the summit. We walk though the eastern side of the peak that offers panoramic view of many mountain peaks. The walk can get tough and slippery. We should carefully make use of the climbing gears and equipments. Upon reaching the summit of the peak we go speechless by seeing the magnificent beauties around. We get the enchanting view of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori and many other peaks around. We celebrate our success over scaling the peak. We take pictures and enjoy the moment together. We then return back to the high camp.
DAY 13: TREK TO CHHUKUNG(4,730M/15,518FT): 6-7 HOURSWe will leave Lobuche High Camp early and head towards Dughla. We will walk along the beautiful Imja valley and walk towards Dingboche. We cross Dingboche and will pass few small huts scattered around the Imja valley area. The walk will then ultimately bring us to Chhukung. From Chhukung we will take our way towards Island peak. We will stay for the night at Chhukung.
DAY 14: REST DAY IN CHHUKUNG(4,730M/15,518FT)We will take rest for a day at Chhukung. As in this trip we will be climbing two peaks we will need to gather enough strength to climb the next peak immediately. So, rest for a day is necessary. We will spend the day by giving rest to the body and going for the light walk around.
DAY 15: TREK TO ISLAND PEAK BASE CAMP(5,200M/17,060FT): 3-4 HOURSWe head toward Island Peak Base Camp from Chhukung taking the steep uphill walk. We follow the southern uphill trail and then catch the eastern trail of the valley. Walking ahead we follow the trail down the southern side of the glacial ridge of Lhotse glacier. Next, we take the flat trail alongside the icy stream. The path ahead takes us to the glacial ridges of Imja and Lhotse glacier. Walking further ahead we reach the Island Peak Base Camp which lies in the south western side of the peak. We spend the night at the base camp.
DAY 16: ISLAND PEAK SUMMIT(6,189M/20,305FT) AND BACK TO BASE CAMP: 10-12 HOURSWe take the steep uphill trail from the base camp through the rocky path. Walking through the rocky areas we take the route through the moraine towards the summit. We make use of ropes whenever required. Our guides will be there to help you in scaling up. Enjoying the majestic view around, we climb further ahead, towards the peak. Upon reaching the summit the success of finally reaching the summit will leave you feeling elated and exhilarated. We take the pictures together and then head back to the base camp. We reflect on our days climb enjoy together and take a good night’s sleep at the base camp.
DAY 17: RESERVED DAYWe keep a day as a reserved day so that it will cover if any unfavourable weather condition appears and we will have to stop our day. Such unexpected situation is likely as the mountain areas get extreme powerful winds and in such a situation climbing the peak becomes impossible. So, a day is set aside to cover for this.
DAY 18: TREK TO PANGBOCHE(3,985M/13,074FT) 5-6 HOURSWe take the downhill walk through the valley and passing Khumbu river We walk ahead through the Sherpa villages and head ahead towards Pangboche village. We visit the oldest monastery in the village and finally reach the Pangboche village. From there you get to view the beauty of mountain peaks as well as watch the flowing Imja river down below.
DAY 19: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR:4-5 HOURSWe walk ahead from Pangboche through the downhill trail towards the Imja river. The walk then takes us through the rhododendron and pine forests and towards the Tengboche village. Further ahead, we cross the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi river and take the trail ahead towards the village called Sansa. We continue walking ahead until finally reaching Namche Bazaar. We spend the night at Namche Bazaar.
DAY 20: TREK TO LUKLA: 6-7 HOURSWe take the rocky trail downward toward Dudh Koshi river. Upon crossing the river we head towards Lukla crossing Monjo (Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit). Walking downhill and crossing the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river, we walk ahead to Phakding. From Phakding we catch the trail uphill until finally reaching Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla we give rest to our aching body and spend the night in a lodge.
DAY 21: FLY TO KATHMANDU:35-40MINUTESWe take a flight back to Kathmandu and upon reaching Kathmandu we might roam around the city for some souvenir shopping. We organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate successful completion of trek and exchange final greetings and wishes and prepare for final departure.
DAY 22: DEPARTURE DAYToday is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.
