Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu
Upon your arrival time, a representative from Nepal Trekking Routes will reach Kathmandu International Airport [TIA] to welcome and receive you. You will then be escorted to your hotel where you can refresh and relax. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Trek Preparation or Free day in Kathmandu
After enjoying morning breakfast, You will visit world heritage monuments such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swoyambunat and Bouddhanath. Or shoping around thamel In the evening, our trekking guide will conduct a briefing about the trekking program before dinner. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Phakding via Lukla flight (2,652 m) 3 hrs
Wake up early today to catch a mountain flight to Lukla, the gateway to Mt. Everest. Unload your rucksacks and star trekking towards Phakding. En route you will pass through pine and oak forests with occasional chirping sound of birds. Overnight in Phakding.
Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) 5 - 6 hrs
Have a warm breakfast and take in the crispy air. The trail leaving Phakding parallels the Dudkhosi River alongside the forested hills. Crossing of the suspension bridge over the confluence of Bhotekoshi and Dudhkoshi allows for a first glimpse of Everest and other peaks. The last segment is fairly uphill trek till you reach Namche Bazar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 05: Namche Bazaar: Rest day
Today is an acclimatization day. You will spend exploring and learning about the sights and sounds of Namche Bazaar. Or you can hike up to Everest View Hotel, one of world’s highest hotels to capture an amazing panorama of Mahalangur Himalayan ranges including Everest, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Choaltse and so forth. Afterwards return to Namche and spend evening in cozy Namche cafes or pubs. Overnight in Namche.
Day 06: Namche to Tengboche (3,870 m): 5 - 6 hrs
As the dawn breaks, you carry rucksack and march down the trail ahead. The section between Namche and Tengboche is fairly easy as you walk into serene forests of oaks, pines and magnolia. Tengboche Monastery is one of the most sacred Himalayan monastery built by the Sherpa community some 300 years ago. The monastery is in a vantage position affording a stunning view of Mt. Ama Dablam. Overnight in Tengboche.
Day 07: Trek to Pheriche (4200 m)
Trek to Pheriche via Pangboche.
Day 08: Pheriche Rest Day
Today is another day allocated for acclimatization. Follow your trekking guide on a short hike to nearby Dingboche valley. You will have plenty of time to observe local Sherpa culture or enjoy yaks plying on the fields. Overnight in Pheriche.
Day 09: Pheriche - Lobuche (4,910)
Hours of walking: 5.
Difficulty: moderate to difficult.
Elevation reached: 4940 m
Terrain: Some steep inclines and rocky tracks where you will need to scramble for a short time.
Views on offer: The Khumbu Icefall and Pumori amongst other beautiful Himalayan mountains.
Highlights: Reaching the top of a steep incline for breathtaking panoramic views amongst Buddhist chhortens.
What’s to see: Memorial sight for people who sadly lost their lives attempting to summit Everest, traditional Sherpa houses.
Accommodation: Basic Teahouse.
Day 10: Lobuche to Gorekshep via EBC (5,170 m)8-9 hrs
This is most probably the best section of trekking on this trip. The trail is a bit rocky and challenging as you walk parallel to Khumbu glaciers on your right. The final section involves negotiating your way through big rocks and boulders. Gorakshep is the last village before Everest base camp. Overnight in Gorakshep.
Day 11: Gorekshep to Dingboche Via Kalapatthar (4280 m) 8-9 hrs
Rise up early, very early in the morning, around 4 am. You will start your trekking in the moonlight as you attempt to scale to the top of Kalapathar. All this effort is required to reach to the top of Kalapathar just at dawn, when the sunlight hits Mt. Everest and what lay in front you are the most stunning and magnificent views of sunrise on Mt. Everest. You will have plenty of time taking clicks before you return to Gorakshep. Have your lunch at Gorakshep and return to Pheriche. Overnight in Pheriche.
Day 12: Trek to Island peak base camp via Chukhung [4750 m]
Today, we have an easy walk for about 5 hours, climbing up gradually to the small settlement of Chukhung. Along the way we have great views of Island Peak and the challenge that awaits us. The trail crosses the river and follows the valley for approx 3 hours, passing beneath the magnificent south face of Lhotse. Base camp is by the side of the Imja glacier, below steep grassy slopes which mark the start of the climb on Island Peak.
Day 13: Trek to high camp and Ascent of island (6173 m)
We ascend a little further to high camp. Crossing the gully above the camp the trail makes a climb for another hour to a narrow ridge, leading on to the glacier. Here it is time to rope-up and put on our crampons as the most interesting part of the climb begins with the glacier crossing. This is followed by the steep snow slope that leads onto the summit ridge. This ridge is wonderfully airy and on reaching the summit we have stunning close-up views of the south face of Lhotse looming over us whilst in the other direction, there are more dramatic mountain views. We descend along the same route, down to base camp.
Day 14: Trek back to Chhukung
After summite you trek back to Island Peak base camp and collect your thing continue to trek to Chhukung and overnight at Chhukung
Day 15: Chhukung to Namche (3,570 m) 5-6 hrs
Retrace your step back to Namche. This is an easy walk, filled with ups and downs. Overnight in Namche.
Day 16: Namche to Lukla: 6- 8 hrs
You will continue to retrace your steps back to Lukla today enjoying the beautiful views of Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku and Choaltse. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 17: Lukla - Kathmandu
Catch an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Once in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 18: Farewell Travel Guest
Depending on the time of your departure, our representative will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport.
