
Mt. Baker's Coleman-Deming Route is a moderate glacier climb perfect for both beginner and more experienced climbers who want to stand atop one of the Northwest's classic volcanoes.
With spectacular views of surrounding North Cascade National Park and Mt. Baker's North Face, intricate crevasse fields and modest elevation, this climb has something for everyone. This is the perfect climb for mountaineers preparing to take on Mt Rainier.
Day 1: Orientation and Approach – 5,800 ft (1,768 m)
After meeting at the Ranger Station in Glacier, WA, we will drive to the trailhead and hike to camp. Here, we will go over Leave No Trace camping and some basic mountaineering skills.
Day 2: Summit Day – 10,781 ft (1,768 m)
After getting an alpine start, we will climb the Coleman glacier up to the summit and enjoy the spectacular views. Afterward, we will descend to camp.
Day 3: Descent – 906 ft (276 m)
After breakfast: we will pack up camp, hike back to the trailhead, drive back to the ranger station and say goodbye.
