Quick Facts about the United States

The United States are home to 96 different mountain ranges spread across the whole of the country, from Georgia to Alaska. Away from the two aforementioned ones, The Cascades, in the Pacific Northwest, the Appalachian Range, on the East Coast, and the Sierra Nevada, in California, are the other most popular.
In spite of being the third most populated country in the world, the US is also one of the least densely populated. As much of the population is concentrated in urban areas, large tracts of the country are uninhabited and wild.
In part due to the large number of mountain ranges spread across the country, the US is home to a number of climbing festivals that run throughout the year. Among the most popular is the International Climbers Festival, hosted in Laramie, Wyoming each July.

How To Get To the United States

Due to its immense size and the diverse number of mountain ranges, there are numerous different starting points for trips to the US. Outdoor adventurers heading to the Alaska Range will fly into Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Meanwhile trips to the Rockies generally begin with a flight into Denver International Airport (DEN). From most starting points, it is best to rent a car and drive to the start of the trip.

What To Expect in the United States

Weather: Due to its immense size, the US is home to a wide variety of different climates. For the most part, summers are warm to hot. Summer is also the driest time of year in many of the country’s mountain ranges.
