Climbing history

Chulu East (6,584m) is one of the higher trekking peaks in Nepal. First climbed in 1955. Located in the Annapurna region, accessible from the Annapurna Circuit. Good progression peak for aspiring mountaineers.

Notable itineraries

Standard Route (14-18 days): Via Manang from Annapurna Circuit. Northeast Ridge: Normal climbing route. Combined with Annapurna Circuit trek. Base camp above Manang.

Currency

Nepalese Rupee (NPR) is the official currency. Peak permit through NMA approximately $350-500. Budget $3,000-5,000 for guided climb. Teahouses in Manang for approach.

Official: Nepali. Regional: Manangba language in valley. English spoken in Manang tourism. Buddhist culture in Manang Valley.
