5 DAYS SERENGETI GREAT WILDBEEST MIGRATION IN 2023

Submit Review
Animals migrate in Serengeti for a variety of reasons, including finding better grazing and water sources, avoiding harsh weather conditions, and following seasonal breeding patterns. The most famous migration in Serengeti involves wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles moving in a circular pattern around the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in search of fresh grass. During the dry season, the herds move southward to the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti, where the grass is still green and nutritious. As the rainy season approaches, the herds begin to move northward towards the Masai Mara in Kenya, where the grass is fresher and the water sources are plentiful. The migration is also influenced by predator-prey relationships. Predators such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs follow the herds, feeding on weaker and sick animals. The migration, therefore, provides a vital source of food for predators, allowing them to survive in the harsh conditions of the Serengeti. DAY BY DAY TOUR HIGHLIGHT Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti National Park Day 2: Full Day in Serengeti Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Day 4: Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara Day 5: Lake Manyara to Arusha

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti National Park
You'll be picked up from your accommodation in Arusha and transferred to the Serengeti National Park. After arriving at the park, you'll enjoy a game drive on the way to your lodge or campsite. In the afternoon, you'll have a chance to explore the vast plains and witness the Great Migration. The Serengeti is home to around 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles, and the sheer number of animals on the move is a sight to behold.
Day 2: Full Day in Serengeti
You'll spend the whole day exploring the Serengeti National Park, stopping for a picnic lunch in the bush. Your expert guide will take you to the best locations to view the wildlife and will share their knowledge of the animals and the ecosystem. With any luck, you'll witness a river crossing - a thrilling event that sees thousands of wildebeest and zebras plunge into crocodile-infested waters.
Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you'll leave the Serengeti and head to the Ngorongoro Crater. Along the way, you'll pass through the Olduvai Gorge, where some of the earliest human remains have been found. You'll arrive at the crater rim in time for lunch, with incredible views over the crater floor. In the afternoon, you'll descend into the crater for a game drive, where you'll see an abundance of wildlife including lions, elephants, and rhinos.
Day 4: Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara
After breakfast, you'll leave the Ngorongoro Crater and head to Lake Manyara. This small but stunning park is home to flamingos, hippos, and tree-climbing lions. You'll have a game drive in the afternoon and stay overnight at a lodge or campsite.
Day 5: Lake Manyara to Arusha
On the final day, you'll enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara before returning to Arusha for your onward travel arrangements.
