ALPO Guided Expeditions is a Kilimanjaro guiding company based in Arusha, Tanzania, run by two mountaineers. Lead guide and co-founder Liberaty Victor Mato has guided on Kilimanjaro since 2004, has more than 220 climbs behind him and is a certified Wilderness First Responder. Co-founder Yevgen Staroselskiy is a Master of Sport in Mountaineering and holds the Snow Leopard title (#376). He climbed Everest in 2019 and K2 in 2023, completed the Seven Summits in 2025 and has led more than 25 Kilimanjaro expeditions since 2018. We guide on the Machame, Lemosho, Marangu, Rongai and Northern Circuit routes, in groups of up to 12 with one guide for every three climbers. Itineraries are built around acclimatization: a slow pole pole pace, twice-daily blood oxygen and pulse checks, and emergency oxygen carried on every climb. On the 7-day Machame and 8-day Lemosho itineraries, 95–97% of our climbers reach the summit, against a commonly cited 60–65% industry average. We also guide Mount Meru and run safaris in Tanzania's northern parks.
