OVERVIEW

Our Silcox Hut-based Summit Program offers unmatched amenities for climbers in the Pacific Northwest. The warm fire and catered dinner set you up for the challenges of the summit climb, knowing that waffles are waiting for you when you return!

HISTORIC SILCOX HUT

The centerpiece of the Silcox Hut is a large room that features a fireplace and comfortable seating, alongside the dining room with hand-carved wooden furniture, and windows looking up and down the mountain. The lower level of the Silcox Hut includes sleeping quarters, restrooms and showers.

Catered dinner is served family-style by the Hut-keeper. Afterwards we’ll have coffee, tea and, dessert. Of course, you’ll need dessert to get you ready for your summit climb. Breakfast includes oatmeal, fruit, juice, muffins and pastries, and coffee or tea. As you can tell, this is about as good as it gets for mountain living with an apetite!

SUMMIT CLIMB

In the morning, we’ll meet at the Timberline Lodge to go over gear and logistics before heading up to the Silcox Hut, then spend much of the day in steep snow climbing class. In class, we’ll cover footwork, ice axe usage, and our rope systems. Later on that afternoon we’ll enjoy the amenities of the hut at 7,000 feet – overlooking all of Oregon.

Our summit climb begins with a wake-up call in the middle of the night – the smell of coffee and pastries will help. We’ll aim to reach the summit around sunrise, and then descend to the hut, where breakfast will be waiting. Then, we’ll enjoy one last snowcat ride down the mountain to the Timberline Lodge.
