Arrive into Mineralyne Vody airport. We would pick you up at the airport and you would be transferred to Hathansu Meadow 2,500m/ 8,202 ft. This is 62m/ 100km drive. You will go to Hathansu Base Camp. We will be sleeping 4 people per tent. We will have a toilet tent and shower. Hathansu means ‘silver springs’. There are some mineral water springs with famous Narzan (mineral water in the Caucasus mountains). You will stay at Hathansu Camp.
We will make an acclimatization hike. This will be 4-5 hours. We pass above a narrow gorge and then through the high meadows. This hike will offer spectacular view of the glaciers and northern slopes of Elbrus. We continue through the rock moraine and reach an altitude of 3,250m/ 10,662 ft. We will then descend back to our base camp for the night.
We leave this area today. We have a 7.4m/ 12km hike with a small altitude different to allow for more acclimatization. Today we will hike for 4 hours with 580m/1,902 ft of incline and 390m/ 1,279 ft of descent. We will be staying at Shaukom Camp.
We will follow the famous route that was established after world war II. The route from the Caspian Sea to the Black sea was never finished. We will hike along part of this trail through limestone foothills. We will hike over the Kyrtykasush pass 3,250m/ 10,662 ft, from where we will have a great view of the beautiful islamchat gorge, which leads to the northern foothills of Mount Elbrus. We will descend down to Kyrtyk camp. This is a 9.3m/ 15km hike covering 970m/ 3,182 ft. of ascent and 1,070m/ 3,510 ft. of descent.
Today we have another 9.9m/16km hike which will be 6 or 7 hours. We will follow the ancient route to the Balyk pass at 3,700m/ 12,139 ft. From this pass we will get amazing views of the Eastern slopes of Mount Elbrus and the Dzhikaukins glacier. We will cover 1,000m/ 3,280 ft. up and 1,000m/ 3,280 ft. down again.
Today we will trek to Syltran lake 3,200m/ 10,498 ft. This lake is a beautiful high altitude lake in the Mount Elbrus region. We will hike 9.9m/ 16km today. Once we have enjoyed the lake we will descend along the nice valley to the Verkny Baksan village. From here we will be transferred to your Laguna hotel in Terskol. We will stay in a hotel tonight. We will cover 730m/ 2,395 ft. up and 1,800m/ 5,905 ft. downhill today.
After some good rest and breakfast we will make the 15-minute drive to the Azau station. We will take the cable car/chair life system up Mount Elbrus and stay and the refuge 3,900m/ 12,795 ft. where we will stay for the night.
Today we will do an acclimatization walk up to the Pastikhov Rocks at 4,800m/ 15,748 ft.and return the refuge 3,900m/ 12,795 ft.
Weather permitting today is summit day. We will make an early start and ascend to the highest point on Mount Elbrus at 5,642m/ 18,510 ft. Our goal is the west summit of this twin peaked mountain. You will carry your day pack with a full day’s requirements. There is a possible option to get a snow cat to the Pastukhov Rocks at 4,800m/ 15,748 ft. and continue the climb to the summit from here. After hopefully reaching the summit you will return all the way back to the refuge 3,900m/ 12,795 ft. This is a long day. We will take our time and descend back to the hut. This is a long but rewarding day. You have just completed your Mt. Elbrus Climb and stood on the summit of Europe’s highest peak.
Today is a spare summit day for climbing Mount Elbrus. The weather can be challenging and having this additional day gives you the best possible chance of making the summit. If the weather was good and you made your summit attempt you will return back to the valley and stay in the hotel.
We will be transferred to the town of Piatigosk and stay in a hotel. You are relax and tour this unique town in southern Russia. You will stay at the intourist hotel in Piatigosk.
Your Mt. Elbrus Climb is over. We will drive to Mineralyne Vody for your flight home.
