Despite its difficult climbing history - there were four unsuccessful Japanese expeditions between 1950 and 1955 before it was finally conquered - Manaslu is a deceptively easy mountain to climb.
Generally reckoned to be among the least dangerous of the 8,000ers, it lacks the technical sections that make summits like K2, Kanchenjunga or Everest more tricky. Indeed, Manaslu is often treated as a preparatory climb for an attempt on the latter - a practise we at Elite Exped encourage, as we require everyone to have summited at least one other 8,000m peak before joining our Everest expeditions.
But Manaslu is still an 8,000m peak, and climbing it necessitates a lengthy period of time spent in the so-called “death zone”. The proper preparation, training and guidance that Elite Exped can provide is essential.
Our standard 35-day Manaslu expedition includes helicopters to the village of Samagaun, and offers plenty of time for acclimatisation, as well as rest days.
Elite Exped’s team of guides - handpicked by our record-breaking leaders, Nimsdai and Mingma David - have extensive experience of guiding on Manaslu. Our guides’ Himalayan heritage gives them invaluable local knowledge, which we combine with the very highest Western safety standards.
We control every controllable aspect of our climbs, never relying on third party providers for fixing ropes or route finding. This helps us ensure that your summit experience will run as smoothly as possible.
As well as being highly-skilled mountaineers, our guides have extensive experience of conducting high-altitude rescue operations. No-one can cater for every eventuality in the world’s most extreme environments, but we can guarantee that you will be in the safest possible hands should something unexpected happen.
We don’t see our clients as clients - we see them as friends and fellow high-achievers. We’ll make sure no stone is left unturned in our quest to help you achieve your dreams. We hope that your successful, safe summit attempt on Manaslu will lead you on to even greater feats in future.
