It’s hard to believe but this beautiful mountain was first climbed in 1992. This is partly due to the fact that this region, which borders with Tibet, has not been easily accessible for tourists. The road to the mountain is a journey of contrasts. The first few days along the perfectly developed Annapurna Trek are dotted with Internet cafes, shops and all sorts of amenities that trekking tourists have apparently created a demand for during the last decade.

And then you turn into a different, calmer world. A rather barren landscape, strongly influenced by the Tibetan Khampa people, which also has a lot to offer culturally. This is primarily because of the very few tourists who have visited here, apart from the rare expedition groups. This is precisely why the expedition to Himlung Himal is so appealing, because the overall experience is entirely fulfilling.

The mountain itself… is simply beautiful, with its equally noble and graceful summit shape. A mountain which you can spend hours watching. Technically it does not demand too much. One can fully focus on the altitude, the rhythm and the view. And along the way you will pass the magical “seven thousand mark” almost without noticing.

But beware, after this expedition, you will want more…Technically simple, objectively safe and an ideal preparation for the first eight thousander!

Highlights:

  • High success rate
  • Ideal preparation for a eight-thausander
  • 1 sherpa each 2 members
  • IFMGA mountain guide
  • High camp equipment
  • Small group

Itinerary

1. Day: Arrival and get-together at the hotel in Kathmandu.

2. Day: Free day in Kathmandu. Those who do not yet know Kathmandu will love it. Relax, shop in Thamel, enjoy the cultural program, or simply soak up the atmosphere. To each his own.

3. Day: Drive to Bulbule or Syange 1100m, depending on road condition.

4. Day: Trek to Jagat 1350m on the classic Annapurna trek.

5. Day: Trek to Bagarchap 2160m.

6. Day: Trek to interim camp at 2750m. In Koto we leave the classic Annapurna trek and it`s getting quiet from now on.

7. Day: Trek to Daramsala (3250m).

8. Day: Trek to Junam Goth (3600m).

Glacier slopes up to 30-35 degrees. Only the last part of the north-west ridge to the summit steepens up to 40°. We will fix ropes on this section if necessary. From summit the next goal can be seen: Manaslu 8163m – just opposite us!

24. Day: Clean up, get all gear down the mountain and pack.

25.-28. Day: Trek back to our start point, where our shuttle is waiting.
