The journey up to Everest Base Camp is one of the most popular high-altitude adventures and with good reason. It combines spectacular Himalayan vistas with cultural immersion in Nepal's isolated Khumbu Valley, as well as a good dose of physical mobility.
The climb offers a variety of spectacular highlights, not the least of which is the ability to say you've visited the world's highest peak. More than any other teahouse walks, this journey takes you deep into the heart of the high Himalayas. There are numerous magnificent villages and gompas (monasteries), and the Solu Khumbu region's hospitable Sherpa inhabitants enjoy walking through the area.
Most of the walk passes through the Sagarmatha National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site (Sagarmatha is the Nepali name for Everest) and a haven for Musk Deer, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear, and a variety of Colourful Pheasants.
