MOUNT KILIMANJARO WILDLIFE SAFARI AND ZANZIBAR

Itinerary
DAY 1: ARIVAL
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to Moshi town, at Keys hotel. You will meet your driver guide who will brief you on your upcoming safaris, then rest until the next day morning.
Day 2: MATERUNI WATERFALLS
Around 20 -30 minutes outside of Moshi are Materuni waterfalls. As this trip is so close by it is ideal for those people with limited time but who would still like to see some of the nature and beauty that this region of Tanzania has to offer. These falls are smaller than the previously described Ndoro, but still pretty impresive at 150 meters high and definitely a sight worth seeing. From Materuni Village we will walk some 30 minutes to the waterfall. The walk itself is extremely interesting, as you will see some smaller waterfalls and lots of waterways which are part of the irrigation system of the local farmers who grow coffee, bananas and many other fruits and vegetables. At the waterfall, you can even refresh in the cool and crystal clear water – don’t forget to bring your swimwear! Here you will also break for lunch before doing a short tour of Materuni village to see the typical life of the Chagga tribe. The village, located at a height of around 1300 m (4300 ft) above sea level is set within a dramatic landscape of high rises and deep valleys, all covered by tropical rain forest. Coffee Tour Materuni village produces many perishable goods including yam, sugar, maize and beans. However, the main crop that is grown is coffee. In the village you will be able to learn about the process from which coffee is grown, to when it is finally poured, steaming hot into the cup. You will pick you own coffee, remove the cover and then with coffee that has been previously dried out, crush it into coffee granules. After experiencing the complete coffee production process you will be able to enjoy your very own, satisfying and rewarding cup of fresh coffee. You will also learn how the Chagga tribe lives, such as their home set-up, the types of food they cook and eat and how they rear their animals.
Day 3: Momella gate (1500m) to Miriakamba (2500m)
Visitors spend the first night at Miriakamba at (2500m) from the Momella gate Miriakamba they are two routes southern and Northern routes. Southern road takes about 5 hours walk to from Momella gate to Miriakamba hut. Through this route visitors can have chance to see almost all mammals found in the forest. Therefore you can see a lot of birds including birds of prey. It’s possible to see several species of butterflies such of Mocker Swallow tailed, Soldier commodores, blue Swallow tailed, Golden winged forester, Mother of pearl, etc.
Northern route: Takes between 3-4 hours from Momella gate to Miriakamba. This is a shorter and steeper route. Along the way you can have the great views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Momella lakes are spectacular. Common mammals along this route are Cape buffalo. Maasai giraffe, Warthogs, Bushbuck etc. Present birds are Hartlaubs turaco, white fronted Bee Eaters, fiscal shrike, tropical Boubou, stone chat, variable sun birds olive pigeon. Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba hut.
Day 4: Miriakamba to Saddle (2500mt) to (3500mt)
It takes 3-4 hours. Along this portion of the route the visitors do enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Momella lakes. Meru crater, Ashcone, Mt Meru cliff and the little Meru. Through the forest. Common animals include Buffalo, Bushbuck and black and white Colobus.
Attractive wild flower such as Empetient species,Red hot pocker, Orchids, fire ball, lily. Shrubs are Erica arboreas, Stoebe Kilimandscharica and etc. The trail takes the visitors through striking tree species such as Hygenium abyssinica, and podacarpus. You will arrive at noon time here you will have lunch and start the ascend the little Meru is possible even during the afternoon. After a little Meru you will be back to Saddle for dinner and overnight.
Day 5:Saddle to Summit
Takes about 5-6 hours. The start for the Summit is done early in the MORING The is the place where visitors enjoy the most views of Mt Kilimanjaro little Meru ,Meru crater ,Achcone. Momella lakes, Cliff face Meru Summit Ngorongoro crater highlands, Arusha city sunrise and sunset Klipspringers and mountain Reedbucks are seen over rocks. Birds like white necked raven, Bearded vultures, stone chat, cliff chat, Alpine swift can be seen in this higher elevations. While walking along the trail to Saddle it is possible to step on wild flowers like Alchemilla Helocysum, and iris flowers. After reaching the Summit at 4566MT you will walk all the way down back to Saddle for the lunch and a bit sleep then you will processed to the Miriakamba for dinner and overnight.
Day 6:Miriakamba to Momella gate
For those who walked up through the shorter route will take the longer route while going down is not advisable. Please take your time to enjoy scenic beauty as well as occasional sightings of the game. At the gate you will find your porters and the transfer car waiting for you: drive back to your hotel for the shower and relaxing prepare for the next climb to mountain Kilimanjaro or safari to Serengeti or ngorongoro crater.
Day 7: To Mandara Hut
-1700m to 2740m/5500ft to 9000ft
-7 km, 4-5 hours
-Montane Forest
After breakfast and briefing, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (45 minutes), register and commence the climb. Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment located at 9000 ft / 2740 m. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colubus monkeys.
Day 8: To Horombo Camp.
OPTIONAL DAY (Acclimatization Day)

-11 km, 6-8 hours
-Heath land
After about I hour, you will leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands to the Horombo encampment. Views Of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and grounsels. You will start to feel the affects of the altitude.
If you wish to extend you trek, here you can spend an extra day resting at Horombo or climbing the small peak of Mawenzi.
Day 9: To Kibo Camp .
-3720m to 4720m/12,100ft to 15,400ft
-10 km, 6-8 hours
-Alpine Desert
Ascending, we now pass the last watering point, walking onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Vegetation begins with upper heath land but then disappears into "moonscape". Dinner, rest, and prepare for summit climb.
Day 10: To Summit and Horombo

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman's point located on the crater rim at 18640 ft/ 5861 m (4-7 hours). Continuing, we now ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa: 19340 ft/ 5895 m (1-2 hours). Unbelievable views at every turn. Get your picture taken at the summit to show your friends. From here, we now descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo encampment for dinner and a tired but happy overnight (1-2 hours).
This beginning of this climb is done in the dark and requires headlamps or flashlights. It will be very cold until you start descending, so you will need all of your warm layers. This is, by far, the most difficult part of the trek with many switchbacks. "Pole pole" and an optimistic attitude will get you there!
Day 11: To Moshi
-3720m to 1879m/12, IOOft to 5500ft
-18km, 5-7 hours
After breakfast, A steady descent takes us down through moorland to Mandara Hut (2700m / 8858 ft), the first stopping place at the Marangu route. Continue descending through lovely lush forest on a good path to the National Park gate at Marangu (1830 m / 6004 ft). At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).
A vehicle will meet you at Marangu village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi
Day 12: AURSHA NATIONAL PARK
Moshi– Arusha National Park In the morning, we will pick you from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and take you to Arusha National Park. The park has an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress. Hollywood also chose this region to film the movie “Hatari” in which Hardy Kruger starred alongside the legendary John Wayne. Your day trip will include a visit to the Ngurdo Crater. Buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras and baboons can be seen all year round as well as many different bird species. At the Momella Gate, an armed ranger will be waiting for you to accompany you on your walking safari that will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up-close.
DAY 13:ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After a breakfast, your drive will be at your hotel ready to take approximate 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Giant baobab trees, bush savannah and the seasonal marshes add to the wonder of this nature reserve. The Tarangire National Park is considered as one of the best places to view elephants up close. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are seen now and then but cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the open roof of the safari vehicle you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. In the evening you reach your lodge inside the park.

DAY 14:TARANGIRE TO CENTRAL SERENGETI
You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for game drives around 9:00 AM with packed lunch or you can depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and depart to North Serengeti with packed lunch. You will explore the central portion of the Serengeti National Park today and move towards the northern part of the THE enroute game drive towards the Kogatende region will offer mild action from resident games. As you approach the northern part of the Serengeti, you will notice the terrain change from the usual plain grassland to a more hilly and broken terrain. The northern region offers a variety of resident game such as zebras, topi, gazelle, buffaloes, leopards and lions.A picnic lunch will be done during the day long drive itself. Based on the time of your arrival you will be able to spend a few hours by the Mara river. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night's rest in your accommodation.
DAY 15: NORTH SERENGETI
You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for full day game drives around 9:00 AM with packed lunch and return back to lodge late afternoon around 6:00 PM. Or you can depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and relax for a bit and depart on an afternoon game drive with packed lunch. In the months between mid june to september the migration can be found in this region. From mid June to September, the Mara River in this region offers the most dramatic river crossing of the great migration. Fierce,deep and heavily rain fed the river takes an enormous toll on the migrating wildebeest. Watching the wildebeest surging through the torrential flow, some drowning and a few falling prey to lurking crocodiles is an unforgettable sight. If it’s your lucky day you will be able to witness this natural wonder and watch nature take its course. Tracing the great migration you might even move towards the Lobo valley. The pristine lobo valley is scattered with woodlands, plains, hills and famous granite Is offers an enormous amount of bigcat game with lions, leopards and cheetah in plenty. During the dry season the permanent
water sources in the valley attract plenty of resident and migratory animals, resulting in excellent game viewing. During the full day game drive, you will have a stop where you can have your picnic lunch. The day comes to an end with a tasty dinner and a good rest in your choice of accommodation.
DAY 16: CENTRAL SERENGETI
You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for game drives around 9:00 AM with packed lunch or you can depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and relax for a bit and depart to Central Serengeti with packed lunch. Today you will head south towards central Serengeti. The four hour drive to the centre will offer mild enroute The drive south from the Mara river valley takes you through hill country, the Lobo area, woodlands and then back into Seronera The central portion of the Serengeti - known as Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengetis' species. As you make your way into the Seronera region, you will begin to notice the hilly and broken terrain altering into plain grasslands. In Seronera one must really look out for the many lion prides that thrive in this The interactions and survival of these lion prides provide an excellent game viewing experience all year round. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.
DAY 17: CENTRAL SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. Ngorongoro Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor, dotted with watering holes, shelters some 30,000 animals. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.
DAY 18:NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA - MOSHI
On the last day of your safari, you will have an early start. Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 AM into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq kms with a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keeping the camera ready is definitely recommended. The African elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, Hippos, Hyenas, Cheetahs and Lions are found in plenty. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hr drive left to Moshi. You will be dropped off to your preferred location in Moshi by 6:00 PM in the evening. With an incredible experience and get prepare for flight to Zanzibar
DAY 19: ARRIVAL IN ZANZIBAR
You will be met by our office representative at the Zanzibar Airport or Harbor to Tausi Hotel which will be arranged for you. The hotel is in the heart of Stone Town. The hotel is bed and breakfast.
DAY 20: STONE TOWN TOUR – NUNGWI BEACH
Today after breakfast you will be picked up by our guide and head to Fumba village. The tour will start at 9am from the Fumba Beach to Kwale Island and return to Fumba beach around 3:30 pm. It’s an experience of its nature and unique you should not miss if you are in Zanzibar. You will share a traditional Dhow from Fumba beach to Kwale Island, where you will visit magnificent natural Mangrove Lagoon which only found in Kwale Island. You will also get an opportunity to witness a natural sandbank occurring with an amazing swimming around a natural blue water. You will be eating a true natural sea food cooked very traditionally. After lunch you will head to Fuba village then to Stone tow.

DAY 21: STONE TOWN – NGUNGWI BEACH
Morning after breakfast, you will be met by our guide who will guide you to Stone town tour. The Old stone town is part of Zanzibar city which was declared as world heritage side by UNESCO since 2000. With your guide you will walk on the footsteps of old town across the dilapidated building of Zanzibar, exploring the wonderful labyrinths of Zanzibar and most historical sites including the house of wonders (national museums), old fort, old slave market, fruits and fish market, spice market, bazaar, streets, Zanzibar curved door and their roles. Today you will experience local lunch on the street of Stone town. After lunch you will travel to north at Ngungwi beach.

DAY 22: JOZANI FOREST

Jozani forest is the only national park you in Zanzibar Island and located in Jozani-Chwaka Bay National park, 38km south east stone town. The forest is a great place to encounter many indigenous Flora and Fauna including Zanzibari Red Colobus Monkey, Blue Sykes Monkeys, Bush Pigs, Aders’s Duiker, Elephant shrews, Chameleons, and more that four hundreds bird’s species and five hundreds species of butterflies.

You will spend and relax the rest of your time at this finest beach of Zanzibar. Nungwi is considered as the nice and fines beach of Zanzibar. Spending a time here will always worth your time and value for money. It time to rest and relax and forget the rest of hassling.

DAY 24: NGUNGWI BEACH – AIRPORT
Today you will depend on your flight time. If you have a time, you can still enjoy the beach until your perfect time to be picked up. Our drive will pick you on time and head to airport for your flight back home.
