Brief Description

Composed of tropical rainforest, high deserts and snow-capped mountain peaks, India is a magnificently diverse country that is chock-full of cultural and natural wonders. Famous Mountains in India

Without a doubt, the most famous mountain peak in India is Kangchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak. However, climbing from the Indian side of the border is forbidden. Instead, most adventurers headed to the mountainous and heavily forested state of Sikkim opt to trek to the base of the peak or circumnavigate it.

For mountaineering enthusiasts, however, Nanda Devi is among the main attractions. Rising to 7,816 metres (25,643 feet) in elevation and located in the heart of the Indian Himalayas, near the border with Nepal, this highly technical peak provides quite a challenging ascent with plenty of sublime views along the way.
